Adjusting the springs to the same tension for all keys is a simple and easy way to improve your finger technique. Slowly and gently lower each key with your index finger, including the side keys, spatula keys, and octave key. Determine which key has the tension you like, then adjust the springs to the other keys to match that key. I prefer a lighter touch but firm enough that the low C key does not bounce it opens.

Having your instrument repairman set the spring tension helps avoid breaking a spring. And the springs will probably hold their tension setting longer.
